by Gail Allen I’m sure we’ve all seen the meme going around on social media that says, “The trees are about to show us how lovely it can be to let go.” I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately. There’s a lot of truth to that statement, but it can be painful, as well! Life transitions are rarely fun or easy, are they? Like the leaves on the trees, sometimes the change looks beautiful and we’re thankful for it... but inevitably, eventually we hit the bareness of Winter and start having second thoughts. I think that’s when God most likes to teach me patience. He’s telling me, “Just wait, Gail, wait for Spring. I have so many surprises planned for you. Just wait — and don’t give up.”
The changes of the seasons has me thinking about the difference between letting go and giving up. At first blush, they seem to be saying the same thing. To me the difference is trust and lack of expectation for the outcome. A willingness to let go of control of the outcome. So no matter what season you are in at this point on your journey, I hope you are enjoying the scenery! Would you like to work with Gail on you expectations of the season?
