by Gail Allen I’m sure we’ve all seen the meme going around on social media that says, “The trees are about to show us how lovely it can be to let go.” I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately. There’s a lot of truth to that statement, but it can be painful, as well! Life transitions are rarely fun or easy, are they? Like the leaves on the trees, sometimes the change looks beautiful and we’re thankful for it... but inevitably, eventually we hit the bareness of Winter and start having second thoughts.

by Gail Allen Astrologically speaking, every year between the Full Moon in July until the New Moon in August, we enter what is called the Lions Gate Portal. This is the time when the star Sirius is most visible from earth, just before sunrise in the eastern sky. Supposedly, it reaches its peak on August 8th. Is this true? Is it real? Who’s to say? It’s become widely popular, so let’s explore the energy it’s said to bring!

Many people who know me at all know that I don't watch TV. Like...at all. Not on my own, anyway. If you talk to me about your favorite show, I'll be happy to listen, but I have nothing to add because I have no idea what you're talking about unless your favorite show also happens to be I love Lucy! Kardashians? I’ll only have a vague idea who you're talking about. This is us? I know there must be something about a crock pot and some guy named Jack from a passionate conversation by some strangers that I happened to overhear in a store one time. But every 2 years (this year 3), I dust off the screen, find the remote, and become glued to the recliner. I am a self-proclaimed, Olympics nerd! by Gail Allen “Self-care” is the buzz phrase that we seem to all be hearing a lot of these days! What does it mean to you? What feelings does it bring up when you hear it? For many of us, especially women, I know we scoff. Our grandmothers and mothers didn’t need “self-care”, why should we?? And how selfish does it make us if we’re focused on ourselves instead of our children and/or significant others?
FREEDOM. Let’s pause for a moment and really reflect on that word. What does it mean to you? What images does it bring to mind? For many people, it likely is associated with some type of Independence Day celebration. Maybe fireworks, cookouts, parades, and patriotism come to mind. For others, maybe it’s associated with certain rights and privileges we’ve come to enjoy. Perhaps it’s a physical sensation in the body associated with lack of commitments. According to the Mirriam Webster Dictionary, there are lots of definitions of the word. The one that stands out the most to me is, “liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another.”
